What Is Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture?

For such an ancient medicine, acupuncture is gettin’ hip with the times, and taking on an exciting modern flare!

Did you know that a specific type of acupuncture called Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture can improve skin tone, plump out wrinkles, lift the dreaded sag, brighten complexion, minimize pores, boost elasticity, relax tight face muscles and remove all signs of stress from your face? Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture can make us look and feel fresh and youthful again.

What Is Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture?

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is a method of needling designed to bring radiance and youthfulness to the face. It has been called a natural Botox alternative, but it is so much more than that. It not only makes us look youthful, but also boosts the health of our skin, and improves the overall health of our body.

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is unique in the sense that it addresses our internal causes of aging, as well as working directly on the areas we show our age - our face and neck.

It works by building and strengthening the collagen matrix in our face and neck. Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture involves the shallow insertion of many (60-80) tiny needles in the face and neck. These needles create tiny wounds, called microtraumas, in the skin. Our body immediately senses these little microtraumas and begins the healing process. Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture essentially ‘tricks’ our body into beautifying our skin by healing the microinjuries which are created by the acupuncture needles.

What Do Your Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture Treatments Look Like?

I am glad you asked!

When you arrive to the studio, I will invite you to the treatment room where we will have a little discussion about your concerns and goals. Then I will leave the room to wash my hands, giving you space and privacy to get comfortable on the cozy massage table. When I return, I begin the needling.

I always begin my Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture treatments with body points. These points are like a regular acupuncture treatment, and they serve a few purposes. Some points stimulate oxygen and blood flow to the face. Others are used to ground our Yang energy. The amount of needles used in the face during a facial acupuncture treatment can lift a lot of energy up to the head, and I want to keep some of that energy rooted in your lower body. Some points are used to treat your constitution, addressing your internal causes of aging.

After I get all the body points in, I start working on the face. I work from the chin, up to the forehead.

When all the points are in, I let the client relax with the needles in for 20 to 25 minutes.

Afterwards, I return to the room and slowly start taking the facial points out. One by one, pressing with a q-tip after each needle to minimize bruising. I also have an anti-bruising oil which I apply to some points.

I end the work on the face and neck with a massage, using your very own rose quartz Gua Sha stone. Oh my gosh, this feels so good after a facial acupuncture treatment.

Last, I remove the body points, then leave the room so you can get up. My clients usually float out of the room with a look of pure relaxation on their face.

How Many Treatments Do You Recommend?

For the best results, the recommendation for Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is twice a week for five weeks, which is a total of 10 treatments. Then monthly, bimonthly or quarterly upkeep treatments afterwards.

Doing the whole 10 sessions once a year will with upkeep treatments in between will keep us looking and feeling much younger than our actual age.

I understand that life is busy, and a twice a week is a pretty big commitment, so once a week for 10 weeks will also give great results.

After you complete your 10 sessions, I give you the Gua Sha stone that we used in each of your treatments as a little memoir of our time together.

Who Shouldn’t Get Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture?

Unfortunately, Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture isn’t for everyone.

Although regular acupuncture is wonderful for pregnant women, they should avoid Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture. All their resources are needed to grow a beautiful healthy little human.

Others who should avoid Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture include people with diabetes, or severe conditions like cancer, AIDS or coronary disease, blood clotting disorder, frequent uncontrolled migraines, seizure disorder, or uncontrolled hypertension.
